AWESOME GRAPHIC ARTIST

Alright Ladies and Gents,

Here it is! Hot off the press ;) Sorta.

ANDREA CASTEK - crazy awesome Graphic Design student @ ISU... She's got the chops.

I started following Andi (as she is commonly known to her friends) a little over a year ago as her Awesome photography kept popping up in my news feed on Facebook. Romantic, edgy, whimsical, or corky... her photos kept me entertained as she grew into a great artist.

Sharing this with you all is fun as I don't know one person who doesn't enjoy looking at art, and that's exactly what her photos are... Art. I found myself checking back in with her pages as months passed to simply see what other amazing things she had gotten herself into. Andrea's photos really make the audience enter a fantastical world where nothing seems to go wrong. Even sadness falls off the screen as an emotion that is perfect and beautiful in its disaster... makes you want to go and get your heart broken just to be party to one of her masterpieces.

Andrea has recently taken on a position with Reader's Digest (based out of NY, NY) as an intern and has an extremely bright future ahead of her.

So far she does design of everything:

NOTICE! NOTICE! READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!

To all my fellow writers:

Writing;
heartfelt in its justification, clumsy in its effort, eloquent in its result...

Be in this world, explore, FEEL, understand (but know you never will), and WRITE!!! Write about the silly things that make you smile, write about that irritating piece of gum stuck to your shoe, or write about a life tragedy. The content rarely matters. What matters is that you SHARE. Share your life with the world. You only get to do this once... why not pass on your joy and lessons learned to the next person.

You never know... it may change their life.

A Semester in Reflection

How to begin,

As this blog is tending to seem like a hodge podge of my personal reflections, I suppose I shall simply continue in the same manor today. My final semester as a Junior at UNI just ended last week and boy, was it a crazy semester or what! In an effort to avoid random bits of friend and relationship craziness spewing into this platform that I reserve for more optimistic views, I will simply state... I am glad that's over.

Onto the more cheery and pleasant tellings... School! Many great things affected my seemingly long career as a student this semester. I am nearing the end of my schooling toward a Bachelor's degree and yet I almost feel like I am just getting started.

Let us start from the beginning! At the start to my semester I was part of my second field experience in Price Laboratory School... (yes, still trying to figure out if it's TRULY closing or not :/ ) I LOVED my students. Most of them had been classmates since pre-K and so they were very close. The students also welcomed me with open arms and if grudgingly or not, allowed me to just do my thing as their "training teacher." I had a great time with those students and will miss them bunches.

Around the beginning of March I had the opportunity to judge some local middle schoolers History Day projects. It never seizes to amaze me how the boys will choose topics with blood, gore, and intrigue, while the girls will choose more inspirational events or figures to display. It really threw me back into the old "girls are from venus and boys are from mars" ... Two Totally Different Worlds lol. All around? ... I was thoroughly impressed!

140 Character Conference!!!This event deserves its own post and it shall have just that, complete with photos and inspiring stories... Stay Tuned :)

WORK! I have worked at the university's registration office since I started here as a Freshman. I was just recently given a new position in the office and was more than pleased to accept their offer. I will be with this office for a little over one more year before I must say Goodbye. The people here have made my time more than eventful and even more enjoyable. Often the start to my day was the raising of the gates to the office and a quick recap of the previous evenings events with fellow student workers. I can't believe how much I love my job!!!

As the year rolls to a close I only look forward to an amazingly relaxing summer with great friends and great times. Fall will come about soon enough and I'll be ready for it when it does, but for now, bring on the mojito's and the sun glasses... and who can forget the song to my summer?!?!?!
